The Trade Show

For Faye Toogood

Installation and event for The Trade Show by Faye Toogood, 2017.

In her 2017 exhibition during London Design Festival, celebrated British designer Faye Toogood decided to play with the double meaning of the word ‘trade,’ by establishing a barter system with 50 of the UK’s leading creatives. In exchange for one of her Spade Chairs (cast in a limited edition run of sandcast-aluminium), each of the diverse talents donated one exemplary object. Rather than a conventional furniture fair, Toogood’s result was an auto-curated collective cabinet of curiosities from designers, architects, jewellery designers, food designers, artists, graphic designers and photographers.

Arabeschi di Latte traded an edible installation for the Spade Chair and for the private view event, created a bespoke incense called ‘dreamcatcher’ and holy water–inspired cocktails which channelled folkloric superstitions.
